Great White Shark Activity Mossel Bay 05/10/2023

 Since the dramatic return of the 3-meter male Great White Shark on October 20, 2023, Mossel Bay has had fairly consistent sightings. With only a couple of trips without spotting a shark, our anticipation for each trip has largely been met with thrilling encounters.

However, it's important to note that the sharks have displayed a somewhat skittish behaviour. While they've been consistent in their appearances, they've also shown a touch of unpredictability, reminding us that they are truly wild animals and can come and go as they please.

The Weather Challenge

In the world of marine adventures, nature can be both our best friend and our greatest adversary. Since October 20, the weather has not been in our favour. High winds and big swells have been regular over the last few weeks, making our trips more challenging than ever. The conditions have made it difficult to be consistent looking for the sharks but having had sharks after the bad weather it gives us a reason for hope.

Amidst the weather challenges and the skittish behaviour of our sharks, there's a glimmer of hope shining on the horizon. The upcoming week brings favourable weather conditions, raising our spirits and anticipation. And just when we needed it the most, a double surprise greeted us today, on October 5, 2023. We had not one, but two Great White Sharks by our boat. What's even more exciting is that they appeared to be two new individuals. This discovery fills us with hope that there may be more sharks returning to Mossel Bay.
